Question
Dear Michelle, I write you from Romania. I have a signed contract with an American partner and he owes us about $15,000 since December 2006. What can I do to recover this debt? I have the emails stating the ammount of the debt but I can't make them pay. i will be in the US after 10th of July.

If you can't pursue the debt yourself in the US I would contact an attorney OR a debt collection agency. make sure you provide a copy of the contract. This will help you to get paid, either with the help of an agency or attorney or if you decide to take them to court. Since the amount of the debt os $15K you will have to file in civil court to get paid if you decide to go that route. Start out by sending a certified letter that you will be taking this action since you have not been paid. I assume you have been in contact with this partner and have been sending letters and making collection calls to them, so this will be no surprise to them.Good luck!
