Topic: Business Etiquette

Expert: Amanda Gamble
Date: 3/31/2008
Subject: A letter stating ''why should I be considered a rehire"

Question
I was terminated on 01/07 from a utility company. One year & 3mos has past & I'm eligible to reapply with the company. However, I need to submit in writing attn: human resources "Why I should be considered to be rehired with the company?" Can you assist?

Answer
Dear Adelina,
Tell them up front why you were terminated and why you will not
repeat the mistake. Explain what you have been doing in the past
year and how the skills or experience will help you be a better
employee. Remind them of what positive things that you DID bring
initially to the company. You couldn't have been all bad. What
co-workers and supervisors can you get to back you up? call them
and make sure they know you will reference them in the letter.

Just be honest and see what happens. Nothing ventured, nothing
gained!
            Best regards,
                Amanda Gamble
