Question Hello,
My question is in regards to dress shirts. I notice that more and more dress shirts don’t have buttons on the collars anymore. When you where a tie this is fine, however what about when you don’t. I feel like the collar is just hanging out there and not neatly buttoned around my collar.
Is it acceptable to wear a dress shirt with one or two buttons open when the shirt doesn’t have collar buttons?
Thank you,
Mike
Answer Be sure that the collared shirts are starched medium to heavy to ensure the collar will hold. When you are not wearing a tie you may wear open one or two buttons (this is a more business casual appearance), however, be sure that an undershirt is worn with a dress shirt regardless of tie or no tie.
Many times men will wear a more open appearance after work hours in more casual settings.
