Question
I would like to take my boss out for a lunch for all the favours she had done to me during the 5 yaers tenure. i can take her for lunch only this thursday. but i dont know if i can force her to make it thursday itself. How do i frame my invite so that she understands that she should make it for lunch this thursday.
Thanks

Answer
Dear Vinitha,
I hope this reply reaches you in time. It is simple enough say or write a date specific
invitation. "I am so appreciative of all that you have done for me in the last five years.
I would like to take you out to lunch on Thursday, would 12:30 be all right?"  If she asks about
another day,go ahead and explain why it needs to be on Thursday.

If nothing can be worked out, there is no reason why you still cannot write her a note
later to express your gratitude for all her help.

Best regards,
