Question
Cynthia,

We are in the process of updating our non-profit organization's letterhead.  How should we list the Board of Directors on the left hand side?  Executive positions (Pres, VP, Secetary, Treasurer) will be listed first.

Then, we have 10 committee chairs and at-large members.  No one position is more important than the other and we have all bee on the Board approximately the same time.  Should the order be in alphabetical by the last name of the individual or alphabetical by the position title?

Dear Stephanie:
Thanks for your questions.  You are correct to list by title/position at the top of the list. For other Board members you would list them alphabetically by last name if they have served approximately the same amount of time.

If your letterhead is set up with the logo/name of the organization and contact info centered, I suggest you list the executive positions on the left and the Board members on the right (in alphabetical order as stated above) to give the page balance.
