Question Greetings,
Here's the scenario-
I'm at a business lunch at a restaurant with one of my board members. Two other professional colleagues come in while we are seated- I acknowledge them with a "hello, great to see you". The two parties do not know each other, but it would be nice to introduce them. Should I make the introduction
when they arrive, or as we're leaving? What if they leave first?
This happens frequently, so it would be nice to know if there is a proper manner in which to handle this situation!
Kind regards,
Audrey
Answer Dear Audrey,
If they are passing by,let them interrupt your meal, don't
wait and interrupt theirs. As they are passing, say a word
or two that will delay them. "Tom! What a wonderful
coincidence." or "Just the person I most wanted to see."
Then make the introductions and explain why you felt these
two needed to meet. "Tom,Jane is the new manager at World
Lumber and was just asking how their company could be more
involved in the community. Jane,Tom is on the board of
directors for Homes For Humanity." Stand back and watch
the beneficial networking begin.
Best regards,
