Hello, I've been dealing with this problem for over a decade, and can't seem to get an answer.

Particularly when typing in a grid in "Writer" and also when using the "Calc" spreadsheet, a few minutes into my work, the program freezes. I have to start the program again. Most of the work is retrieved, but not the last bit that was entered right before the freeze.

It happens each and every time without fail, with all of the versions I've been using since 1997. Now using 2.3

Thank you for any advice you can offer. I've tried the boards in the past to no avail. If you know of an expert in Open Office, I would like to contact him/her.

If the program is freezing every time you use the software, then I would uninstall and reinstall. Perhaps there is a corrupted file or something.

I have been using OO as long or longer than you have without any problem like you describe. Having said that, OO may take a while to open or may take a while to process an action. I would wait, up to an hour before assuming the program "freezes"

Let me know via allexperts if that does not work.
