Business Software/OpenOffice Writer Formatting Issue

Question
Hi Arthur!
How are you?
Thanks for being an expert on here, hopefully you'll have some insight regarding some formatting dilemmas I've had in OpenOffice Writer.
So there is a template set up for me to create writer documents within, 2 columns for most of the pages and every time I have the formatting perfectly, I can email it to someone or I can select "print preview" and guaranteed it will mess up the formatting every time- moving lines to other pages, etc. and I can only have one entry per column- if one line is off, the entire document turns into a  useless mess. Is there a way to "lock pages and images" once I'm done with them w/o having to make tables for everything? I'm using this as a marketing piece. I send pdf conversions as well, but some people request my writer version. And it would simultaneously save me loads of time when creating these docs.
Thanks so much!!!
Regards,
Aly

Answer
The answer may be that a user has to option of using the settings that are on the document or using the system default settings - for formatting.

BTW, I just read on the open office support site, a posting by alyh23 dated 02/21/08 which, based on the problem description, I assume is you.

Also, if you are interested in file sharing, try www.backpackit.com. It is not free, but is quite useful. You can use this site to send secure documents. If you choose to do so, you might have to pay, but the people receiving the documents may not have to pay.

I tried, but was not able to find a way to "lock" formatting, but I expect there is such a facility in OO.

If you would like to ask about the use of Backpack. please e-mail me directly at namansvcs85@naman.com.
