Question
should i buy scanning and doc mngt software or would it be better to buy an hp product that scans and comes w/ software.  i have very basic business needs.  i need to scan my invoices and recall them by client name or dates or whatever.  also, would some scanning prog interface with quickboks?

Answer
The HP scanner I have scans into a .tiff or .pdf format. I generally use .pdf, Adobe Acrobat, for saving all copies I make. As you likely know, Acrobat is free and comes with some searching capabilities. I am beginning to save most everything in .pdf format in lieu of  paper copies.

I also use Copernic Desktop Search, www.copernic.com, for general searching. It searches .pdf files among other file types.

Document management software can be quite expensive. I am not aware of what there is on the market, though.

I have  no idea what software may interface with QB.

In summary I expect you will be able to work with scanning into Adobe, then using either Adobe or Copernic for searching.
