Business Software/What is , and what isn't, programming?

Question
I have been attempting to get an answer on a question for quite some time, with no success.  Maybe it boils down to opinions, but I'll give it another try.  What is programming?  Is it creating or modifying an application?  Is it using an existing application to perform various tasks by coding or creating queries?  Is it a continuum or is there a bright line somewhere delineating one from the other?  Thank you for your time.

Answer
Programming is when a device is given a set of instructions that make it perform a task. When you set a microwave cook a potato for 5 minutes you are programming the microwave.

In terms of computer programming, it refers to instructions written in a programming language that allows the computer to process instructions or information.

Hope this helps,
