Scottgem,
Youre the last person I will ask, since really no one has helped me.  My system files got corrupted and so i had to restore them.  Now that my system is up and running, I tried to open word but it just froze.  I tried it with excel,access,etc. and the same thing happened.  I tried uninstalling it and i got the following error: "This patch package could not be opened.  Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package."  The ms office cd's wont work either.  What can be the problem?

Hmm, Sorry but I've never heard of such a problem. But its likely that whatever you did to restore your system files may have corrupted your Office install or whatever corrupted your system files did that.

Can you try doing a Repair? What happens when you insert the Office CD? Have you tried contacting Microsoft or checking out the error at support.microsoft.com?
