Question
I am buying a new computer for the house.
(BUT)My wife needs Office XP Professional on it.
Her system at work has Office XP Pro. on it.
She can do a lot of her work at home then.

The new system comes with Windows XP Home Edition.
Is the Home XP edition compatiable with Office XP pro. edition.
Will she be able to put her work on a floppy / CD and go from home to office?
If not which package do I need?
Can the home edition be upgraded to office?
Or do I need the high priced XP Pro. ?

OFfice XP will work on any current version of Windows from Win 98 to Win XP, either Home or Pro. The problem here is you are mixing the operating system (OS) with application software. Win XP is the operating system, Office XP is application software. So, yes she will be able to take work home on floppy or CD and work with it interchangeably.
