Business Software/Partition

QuestionHi,
I have a new Toshiba Laptop 5200 and wish to partition the drive. I have Partition Magic 6 which says it may be unstable using the OS, Win XP Pro, but on trying to resize it says it cannot as there are no primary or logical partitions on the drive. The 60g drive has fully allocated space but oodles of free space so I cannot click on unallocated space to add a new partition.
I tried using Diskpart in the command prompt but am not good at that and was unsuccessful.
Can you help with this?
Regards
Don
AnswerYou really answered your own question. Powerquest says PM 6 is unstable with XP. Why would you risk losing everything on your drive by using an older version that is not compatable?
Upgrade to at least PM 7 which supports XP. I've used it on my XP Pro machine with no problems.
First resize the partition to the size you want, then you can partition the now unused space as you wish.
Hope this helps,
