Business Software/Saving as an image

Question
I was recently told that I can scan in a signature and save it as an image and then use it on letters for a large mailing.

I know this may be really naive, but can you please tell me how to save it as an image and how I would get it into the signature portion of the letter?

Thank you!

Answer
First put your signature on a blank piece of paper. Make it large (an inch or so high) and use a medium to thick felt tip pen.

Next scan the page and save it as a JPG or TIF file. How you do that depends on the scanner software you are using.

Then you can insert the saved image file into your document. Again, how depends on the word processor you are using.

Hope this helps
