QuestionCan you explain what OCR means? Thank you. P.S. I only emailed you once, there must be a problem with the system.

Hello,
I work from a home office for an insurance agency and I keep my clients records at my home office just in case the agency loses the files. I plan on purchasing a scanner so that I can get rid of my paper files. I would like to know the best software to use for sorting (organizing) my scanned files.
Thank you

No question in my mind; Paperport. I would go for the Deluxe version. This is what I use to organize my bills and other important papers. It allows both full text and keyword searches. Scanned documents can be saved in either PDF or Paperport's MAX format. It includes OCR as well.

AnswerOCR stands for Optical Character Reader. It allows you to take an image file (whihc is what a scanner creates) and "reads" it to save it as editable text. How well the reading is depends on the quality and format of the scanned image.

P.S. yes I realize sometimes there are glitches that result in the same question being sent multiple times. The thing is I have to get rid of questions in my queue or they sit there. When that happens I have to use the Duplicate Question option.
