Question
Good morning:
I plan to sell two computers (one with WinXP, home, the other with Win98se) and want to wipe the hard drives clean of all data before releasing them. How do I accomplish this? What software do I use? Also,I want to save all the data to install on new computers. What is the best method to use to do this?
Thanks.

Answer
The best way to wipe it clean is to reformat. But that means you will need oall your drivers and Windows disks.

To backup the data, the best way would be to CD or DVD (if you have a DVD burner). Just burn the files you want to keep. The hardest part is identifying all those files. If you use the defaults most of them will be in the Documents and Settings folder. However, depending on what software you have and how you do things they could be anywhere.
