i have windows XP & have installed word perfect office 2000, i only need the word perfect to open files that other people send me, nothing else. but ever since there is a program that automatically comes up "corelcentral" i just click the X to exit out of it every time i turn on the computer. but even when i have exited out of it hours before, when i go to shut down the computer it always says this program is shutting down or not responding. takes longer to shut down. is there anyway to get rid of the corelcentral & still have the word perfect ?  i would need easy instructions. thanks so much !

Go to Start>Run type MSConfig and look for Corel Central in your startup. If its there uncheck it and that should do the job.

If its not there, try uninstalling The whole thing then reinstall using the Custom install option. Select only to install WordPerfect.

By the way, most versions of Word will open WordPerfect files.
