Business Software/counting software

Questionas i posted recently, my friend is looking for software to track purchases i suppose you could say.
exactly what she does is runs a bottled water outlet.
a customer comes and buys a package of say 500 litres of bulk water.each time they come in they bottle in standard jugs any quantity they want ...5x5litre.....1x30litre 50x1litre..etc.
what she does now is has your name and address etc on a card, and she writes the quantity of your "package".....each visit she manually subtracts your water fills.
she would like to do this on the computer...she says there is a "system" that will do this involving "credit card" type of cards, but at a cost of $10,000 + $1.00 for each customer card!!.
you mentioned quickbooks or a database program..any names?
thanks
andrew
AnswerThere are several database apps that could be used. The top ones are Microsoft Access, Filemaker or Lotus Approach. Any of the three could do the job, but would require designing and setting up the system. It probably wouldn't be too hard depending on the specific requirements.
If she is interested in having someone set this up for her, I would be interesting in bidding on the project. It would definitely not cost $10K, more likely in the $250-$500 range maybe even less.
Hope this helps,
