Business Software/printing cd labels from a database

Question
I am creating a database filled with information on jobs for my company. I was wondering if there is any software out there that will link job names to a cd label program and print them. Only the text will need to change on the cd.

Answer
Both MS Office and Open Office  word processing programs (MS Word, OO Writer) have templates for a variety of Avery labels. I do not know the avery label number for CD labels, but it is likely included. If not, either program can be used to setup the labels even if their is no template included.

Both programs have, or rather use, ODBC to link to a database. With Office one might have to purchase the version of Office that includes the ODBC driver. Open Office is of course free.

Making all this work may be easy or it may not depending on the database program being used.

There are likely programs specifically designed for printing labels, I know one used to be included with the Avery labels. Setting up those programs to link with a spreadsheet may be possible depending on the label software and database software.

One way or another it is definitely doable.

I can answer questions like: How can I use use the writer program in Open Office to make a table? How can I use the spreadsheet program in Open Office to create a small database and sort it? How do I enter formulas in the calc software?

I cannot answer questions about the draw or presentation programs in Open Office. I cannot answer questions about Open Office that pertain to operating systems other than Windows.
