Business Software/replacing Professional File

Question
Hi!

I work with a non-profit, and am currently exploring options to replace the program Professional File.  It's a DOS program from 1988; the XP computers don't like it very well.  Nearly all of our equipment and most of the software is donated, so your suggestion would be most helpful if it's old software that'll still run on an XP -- or if it's free software.  Thanks very much for any help you can give me.

Answer
I had not heard of the program "Professional File" so .. the internet says that it is a database program. I found nothing regarding a current version of this software.

If that is the case, then you have a variety of options when considering switching to something more current.

MySQL, www.mysql.com, is an open source (free) database program. It is however, perhaps more complex that you need. Access, from Microsoft, is quite well known and fairly easy to use; it is not free unless you have a source for obtaining software for non-profits.

Open Office is an open source (free) office program that is comparable to Microsoft Office. One of the components is a database program.
