QuestionHi Kaylyn,
I am a 46 year old man. I am not a student anymore. I am just interested in seeking more sophisticated and refined ways of making price inquiry or negotiation a better price deal. I don't know how else I can prove to you that I am not doing homework. I haven't had homework for a very long time, but I am always learning, English being my acquired language. John
AnswerHi John,
Thanks for responding again. Okay - no homework. ;-)
This might be a difficult question for me to answer because I usually cut to the chase. If a salesperson calls me, I might make an appointment because I know how important the sales call is. Other times, I ask: "What commitment must I make?" Then, I don't let up until I get my answer.
I had a difficult time with a cell phone provider a number of years ago. Finally, I said, "I have one question. Who is your number one competitor?" I received the results I wanted.
A mortgage company made a mistake on my property ID, so the tax payments went on someone else's account instead of mine. Imagine the difficulty tracing it back when I learned my property was going on sale for non-payment of taxes. Finally, I worked out a solution with one man. Then, another sales rep contacted me and said, "I'll have xx e-mail you." I became quite adamant. "Absolutely not! I will only work with Steve Smith in xxxx Dept. and him only." Anything you find, be sure to e-mail him and copy me. Then, John and I will talk.
You see, John, I think it depends on the situation. Never - Never - Never sign a contract (of any kind) without first reading it completely.
I also ask, "please inform me your best price and delivery." If money is an issue, I don't beat around the bush. I state, "This is what I can afford; how are you able to help me?" I don't see a point in wasting someone's time if we do NOT have a match. Does that make sense?
I gave you a few scenarios that I experienced. Hope this helps you.
Sincerely,
Kaylyn
