Business & Technical Writing/Dates

Question
If you are referencing a shipping date in a letter, should
the date be spelled out or can you use 03/26/09?

Answer
Dear Patricia,

I'm not sure whether this is a homework question, but here is my reply.

Be careful of using the slash method. People from other countries write the day first and then the month. Although your example identifies month and date, what if you have 03/10/09? Spell it out to prevent confusion.

Sincerely,
Kaylyn
