Business & Technical Writing/Computer program?

Question
I would like to write a short book on Air Conditioning. I have trade school, and writing education. Can I write my book in Quartzexpress using a macintosh computer?

Answer
Rolf,

You may use whatever program you like to write your book. Usually publishers can convert your text to whatever they use as publishing software by converting your file into a rich text format.

Many people who are self-publishing these days prefer Adobe Acrobat files. This software accepts text and pictures, and if you publish electronically, will not allow other to easily change or steal your text.

Before you invest your time and effort into writing a book on what appears to be a well-established field, you may want to research what other books are out there on Air Conditioning. Because this field is documented by AC producers, trade unions, and NICET, you may be wasting your efforts. A simple check to Amazon or Googling your particular topic may give you an idea of what is available.
