Question
Hi there,

I have a question and I'm not too sure if it's related to database but i'm just wondering what is knowledge and what is knowledge management and why are these important to today’s knowledge economy and to IT professionals.

Do you know of an example of where an organization has achieved value from a Knowledge management initiative

I would just like to get an opinion from you to learn more about knowledge.

Thanks again =)

Answer
Sue,

This question reminds me of a homework question. As a teacher, I don't do other's homework. However, because knowledge management is a relatively new concept, I will help you begin your search.

As the Boomer generation leaves the workforce, much of the knowledge they have is leaving. Businesses are trying to capture this knowledge in a variety of ways. Many technical solutions are out there, others are less technical. Another issue with knowledge management is sharing solutions. When groups work independently, they often find solutions that could be shared, but are not. Businesses are trying to establish some systematic way to share these solutions
