Question
hi I was wondering if you could help me with citing a quote in a paper.  the quote is more than three lines long and I know you need to make it a seperate paragraph and then make the text smaller...I was wondering if you could give me specifics on that.  Thanks!!

Answer
Jeremy,

Is your style guide APA? If it is, then your quote has to be longer than 40 words. If your style guide is MLA, I am not sure any longer how long the quote must be. Three lines is not the best measurement.

In all APA papers, the font must be in Times Roman, Courier, Arial 12 point, no smaller. You simple need to indent all lines of the quote over 40 words and single space the text. (it just looks smaller). Do not change the font or the font size. Be sure to put the author and year in parenthesis at the end of the quote.
