About Joel Linton Expertise I have travelled on business to 37 countries in the past 4 years -- visiting 4 or 5 major cities in one 7-day trip ! All this out of Chicago (my home base). I can assist with itinerary planning, suggestions what to pack, how to get to locations, and can answer general questions about what to do during non-work time, and how to survive "on your own" on the road. I have a few "tips" on how to make a 7 to 10 hour plane ride more comfortable, less jet-lagged and what to take on board to assist.

Question Hi JJoel. First of all, I'd like to thank you for volunteering your valuable experience to the public. It's a grand gesture.
As a new graduate living in Toronto, I'm very interested in option-trading, active trading, day-trading, and that area in general.
My question to you is, from all of the travelling that you've done, is there a place in the US/elsewhere, that stands out as "Finance Central"? I know that Boston hosts the Boston Option Exchange and seems to be a generally financially-driven city. I'm looking to move to a city that provides great opportunities to start in an investment-related career. Toronto is not big on option-trading and otherwise fast-paced active trading, and I'm looking for a magical place where I would be able to find locally taught trading/finance classes.
From your travelling experience, have you come across a place that stood out in this regard?
Thank you very much in advance for any light that you might be able to shed on my expedition.
Answer Andreas
Tough question ..... only because your chosen career is way out of my understanding .... but will go as far as suggesting that Chicago, London or Hong Kong would classify as 'Finance Central" Cities. There are probably others, like Zurich or Geneva ... but more than that I really am not in a position to know. I am a marketing consultant, and operate at that level of departments ...
I guess you need to be doing some serious internet research, and I hope the cities mentioned give you a start. You have to consider where to live, and if there is a language barrier.
If you have a freedom of choice, and want some adventure, then elevate Hong Kong on your list ... wonderful city, very cosmopolitan, clean, safe, lots of english spoken, and a great hub for airline travel all over SE Asia (which is a wonderful place).
Hope this assists and apologies for not been in a position to talk directly about your career industry.
Good luck and take it one step at a time.
(Toronto is my most favorite city .... love that place and I do get to visit about 4 or 5 times a year).
