QUESTION: OK, I am looking to buy a 1954 Airstream, that has not been registered since 1997. The person that is selling it never put the vehicle in his name.  He sold it about six months ago, but the buyer never picked it up, and he cannot get ahold of her.  At the time of the sale he gave her the title/pink.  Now he has been kicked off (mortgage issues) his property and must get the trailer off his property.  How can we go about a transfer?

ANSWER: Patrick....what state, and who issued the title and reg.?

QUESTION: The license plate on it is California.  As for the title and reg, I can only assume the same.  I could not find any other identification plates/stickers on it.

Lets try a couple of things:
Send me the plate #, and the sticker # on it.
Look for a metal plate about 2"x 3" riveted to the rear somewhere...may have been painted over....or removed.  This will also have #'s.
Last shot...look inside on the walls...closets, water heater, cabinets.  Used to paste info on the home, including ID.

You seem to be adept on a computer, you can check www.hcd.ca.gov Lots of info there.  Call the Ombudsman(listed), he can help a lot.  I think the bottom line here will be that the DMV issued the reg, etc...may consist of your seller going to DMV, and requesting a duplicate title, or transfer to you...."~ M
