Question
Hi,  What is the differance between a broker and an agent?

Thanks,
Teresa
(I chose you because of the hat!)

Answer
A broker is an agent, too. However, in most states a broker is for whom a licensed salesman or agent works for. He/she is the one responsible for what goes on in his/her office. The broker pays the office agent when he has earned a commission. A broker has more education and time spent on the job.

One more thing. When a salesman takes a listing, it DOES NOT BELONG TO THAT AGENT. It belongs to the broker. But the agent who took the listing is required to service it. If there is any dissatisfaction with the service, the broker may choose to have another office agent service the listing.

Thanks for the hat compliment. I've been wearing hats of one kind or another for most of my life.

I wish you well.  dixiedee13@aol.com
