Question
My boyfriend is wants to buyout the equity in the house he is living in. His brother, the owner, and only one on the title lives in Chicago. What is the process for buying out an owner and changing title to the new owner? I want to do it through a Real estate attorney.
Dear Yvonne;
Tell your boyfriend to have the attorney draw up an agreement changing title and with the specified amount of money (equity) included in the agreement. Then your boyfriend and his brother both need to sign the contract and have it recorded. He will need to get title insurance and should probably have a survey as well.
