Buying or Selling a Home/quick dee

Question
When I bought my house my husband's credit score  was not high enough to qualify (even though his income was) so I am on the title by myself. How do I put my husband on the title without refinancing?
Thank you.

Answer
Hi Karen-
Thanks for the question. In most states, I believe you can have an attorney or title company draw up a new deed (title) and add your husband to it. The problem may be with your mortgage company as they may not add him to the note without applying for a new loan. In Virginia, they are 2 separate documents. You will have to pay the cost of drawing up the new deed and any recording costs for your jurisdiction. I hope this helps. Best, Toni
