Buying or Selling a Home/Realtor's commission

Question
I am buying a home from someone who does not have a realtor. I am using a realtor. What is my realtor's commission. The home is in Louisville, Ky.

Answer
Commission is negotiable.  If you have a Realtor, then you should have signed a Buyer's Brokerage Engagement that spells out how much commission the Agent is owed.  Also, you owe that commission to the Agent, not the seller who is under no agreement with the Agent.

However, during the process of negotiating the purchase, you can insert stipulations that the Agent's commission be paid for out of Seller proceeds, or by the buyer.
