Buying or Selling a Home/Grand-mother's home

Question
My Grandmother has been in a nursing home for one year and is still living but she will not be able to return to her home.  My home will soon be taken in a right of way purchase for a new road and I would like to buy her house from the Nursing Home/State of Tennessee.  How do I do this and what are my road blocks? Any help is welcome.

Answer
I assume, Nash, that the nursing home took your grandmother's house as payment for the nursing and services they are doing for and to your grandmother. I am sure they don't want to hold that house, so why don't you contact the nursing home and ask them how you may purchase the property? I am sure they will be glad to respond.

Perhaps the property has not been maintained well since your grandmother left it, so you might want to use that fact as a point of negotiation when you offer to buy the property.

I do wish you well.

With more than 41 years as a real estate broker, I can solve most any problem presented. If I can`t, I do my research. Problems with mortgages, trust deeds, foreclosures, odd ways of conveying titles. Most any good Realtor can answer questions satisfactorily, but I answer questions that most cannot.
