Question
hi jess--we are considering purchasing a home in fla.port richey area  is a possible-our interest is perked up because values in fla.in some locales seem to reflect more realistic values-banks seem to have a healthy inventory-we are aware of insurance issues,from friends,and taxes--anyway we wanted to get our big toe wet and do a little exploring-would you have any kind or a roadmap in this regard-thank you for your time---court

Answer
Hello Court;
The "roadmap" would be a process by which you educate yourselves in the real estate market in that area.  Log onto www.realtor.com and look at the listings so you can begin to learn what prices are looking like and what is available.  then, find a real estate agent who can talk about days on market and percentage of homes selling and for how much off of the asking price.  A knowledgeable agent can be very helpful with this.  I think that you need to have someone who is advocating for you and your best interests since it is impossible to keep up with everything that one needs to know these days without the help of a professional. Usually, there is no cost or a very low cost for this service when you have a Buyer's agent but you should make sure up front what you financial responsibility and liabilities are here.

Good luck and best wishes,

Experience

Anyone who is in this business and who dedicates oneself to professionalism has continued to take classes and along with it,additional credentials, awards and honors. I can list a host of them, but my greatest accomplishments happen to be those of getting first time buyers (who didn't think they could afford to buy a home)into a home of their dreams. The look on their faces when I hand over the keys is worth all of the hard work.
