Question
I wasn't sure where to ask this question so forgive me if it's posted in the wrong area.  I am trying to find some place where I can take real estate classes online.  I live just outside of Houston, Texas.  I want to take the classes, buy the materials, etc. so I can get my license to be a real estate agent here in Texas.  Do you have any ideas where I would start?
Thank you,
Landon

Answer
Hello Landon,

Thank you for your question.

Great time to get in to the real estate sales business as the market declines.  You learn to work hard.

Licensed agents can take continuing education online, but I believe you will have to take a classroom course to prepare for the state licensing exam.  You would best be to contact your local board of Realtors or stop in at any real estate broker's office and ask what the local rules are.  In New York you need a broker to 'sponsor' you to take the exam and be willing to hold your license.

Good luck,

Hans

I am able to answer questions related to buying or selling residential real estate in New York. There are many questions buyers and sellers have about the process of buying or selling a home that they are afraid to ask or that might seem too simple to ask. For instance: in a house, why do some doors open in and some doors open out?
