Buying or Selling a Home/lien on home I purchased

Question
I purchased a foreclosure about 6 months ago. I just learned that their was a lien placed on the property for a non-permitted garage conversion prior to the purchase, but I was not notified while in escrow. Do I have any rights or options now that I learned the property did not have clear title?

Answer
Dear Cinnamon,

You have to look at your original contract.  Most will say that the property will be delivered free of all liens and will be delivered with clear title.  If that is the case then you do have a case.

Hope this helps
