Buying or Selling a Home/Lien

Question
My husband and I just purchased a home from a builder here in North Carolina.  Everything went smoothly at the closing...no liens. 2 weeks later, we received a letter in the mail from a lighting contractor stating they were putting a lien on the home for non-payment of his work. The next week we got another one from the cabinet company, and yet another one from the counter tops stating the same thing. Our builder said not to worry, they can't hold us responsible..the house had a clear title when we bought it...they were taking care of it..etc etc.  Should we be worried about this??

Answer
He is trying to hoodwink you, Sally. This matter calls for a REAL ESTATE attorney right away because those mechanic's liens will not go away and if you ever try to get a loan or sell your house, you are going to have problems not to mention you would have to pay those liens. So get that GOOD real estate attorney right away. I wish you well.
