Buying or Selling a Home/VA loan

Question
Ca I use my VA guarentee to get a loan as a single borrower if I am married.  Does my wife's credit have to be disclosed?  She does not have great credit and mine is not perfect but I would prefer to apply alone.  Can this be done?

Answer
Hello:

Your VA status should enable special consideration on both factors.  The VA loan program is designed to help Veterans get loans, both with special consideration and with lower-than-market rates.  You'll need to talk to a mortgage person who specializes in VA loans.  I primarily sell houses, and I'm not an expert on the finance side, but the VA program is a good program.  You've earned special consideration with your service, so find a good loan rep and he'll help you understand what you qualify for.
