Buying or Selling a Home/BuyOwner.com

Question
I am considering buying a home through BuyOwner.com. I'm not selling my home through there, I have a Realtor handling that. I've heard horror stories about people trying to sell their homes through BuyOwner, but I haven't heard anything about BUYING through them. Any advice?

Answer
If you heard the same thing about a local Realtor, Pattie, would you go to that person to buy a house? I don't think you would. So why would you go to BuyOwner.com? What you should do is to strike up a good professional alliance with a local, experienced (someone who has had at least 10 years in the business) and have that person work for you as your buyer agent and your seller agent. Whatever you do, don't try this agent and then that agent. What you get is a total lack of concern for you interests even though a Realtor is supposed to have your interests at heart EVEN OVER THEIR OWN. It says so right in the Code of Ethics. I do wish you well, Pattie.
