Buying or Selling a Home/Title problem

Question
Trying to sell a manufactured home in Ohio,bought with money from a mortgage taken out by my parents on the property they currently live on in PA. So the manufactured house is paid for. I've called Conseco,which the Auditor in my county says holds the title,they say it was paid off in 2004 and sent to a company called Express Title Inc in PA,which is now out of business. Now what do I do? We need to sell the manufactured home,my mother has died and I need to move back home with my father.I've tried looking up the serial # at the BMV,but no luck. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

Hi Gianna...assuming your state is similar to California, the Housing and Community Development (HCD) handles the mobile home registering, etc. Go to your state's website, find HCD, locate the local office, bring what ever you have for paperwork.  They will be able to tell you if loan is cleared, taxes are up to date, etc.  You should go through escrow anyway....if you have recent reg. and/or title, they will do all the paperwork for you.....Good luck.   "~ M
