Buying or Selling a Home/Selling a home - moving overseas

Question
Hi,

My home is on the market through a realtor, however, I will be leaving the country very soon, so I will not be around for the closing. Can I sign whatever documents need to be signed at closing from overseas? My realtor has suggested that I give him Power of Attorney to handle the transaction, but I don't feel very comfortable with that.

What are my options?

Thanks!
Sanjay

Answer
Hi Sanjay,

As long as you have access to fax or email and can receive Fedex (or other carrier) you should be able to sign your own docs.  If you do not feel comfortable giving anyone power of attorney do not do it.  I suggest you call the escrow company and discuss it with them.

Good luck
