Buying or Selling a Home/Etiquette

Question
Hello,
I am a realtor, and my partner and I have a client who asks us to remove our shoes when at their home. As it is summer he and I both usually wear sandals and go barefoot in our client's home. In your opinion, is it professional for us to go barefoot or should  we bring slippers or wear socks/stockings? Also, have you ever had to go barefoot when showing or viewing a home?
Thanks so much!

Answer
Hi Sophia,

If you know that your listing client does not want shoes worn in their home, I would get some of those surgical slippers (you can get them at a medical supply store and they are inexpensive) to put in a basket by the front door along with a note to please remove shoes. At that point it is up to the other agents and their clients whether they would prefer to go barefoot in the home or put on the surgical slippers.

If this is a buyer client, you may can either go barefoot when vising their home or carry a pair of footie socks with you to put on, whichever you feel is most comfortable. I have done it both ways, depending on the client and what I felt they would most appreciate. If they are going barefoot in their home, I probably would too. :)

With my husband I have been helping families call Las Vegas home for over 23 years and I still love it! We developed a strong niche in the Internet industry and had to start a team of agents to respond to the large volume of calls we were getting. Currently we have 18 full time agents, a sales manager, two leads managers and two transaction coordinators assisting us. Last year we helped over 280 families and investors find property in Las Vegas.
