Question
I have valances in my living room, along with wooden blinds. Am I obligated to leave my curtains when selling the home?

Answer
Hi Andra-
Thanks for your question. I don't know what state you are in but the rule is whatever your contract says. If your listing agreement says they convey, then they convey. Same thing with a purchase agreement or contract. If the contract specifies they convey, they stay. HOWEVER, if you haven't listed your house yet or accepted a contract, you can state that they DO NOT convey and put a little sign on them that says "DOES NOT CONVEY." Make sure your real estate agent is aware of your wishes. Also, remember almost everything is negotiable UNTIL it is agreed to in a contract. Hope this helps. Best, Toni
