Buying or Selling a Home/buying/selling land in VA

Question
My niece purchased about 60 acres of land in Fredericksburg, VA.  She has been told that she can only sell parcels of land to her relatives only.  Is that true????

Answer
Hi Holly-
Sorry to be so long in responding, I have been in the hospital for over a week. I live near Fredericksburg (Orange) so this one is relatively easy- it just depends on the county regs and how many times it has previously been subdivided. Check with the county (start with zoning). Sometimes you can do only a family subdivision for a period of time and then convert it later. Hope this helps. Best, Toni
