Question My wife and I went through the government loan to build use a house for our family. During the building we thought everything was built to stand up for the rest of our life. But we have only been in our house for maybe 10 and a half years. And we think the house is falling apart. There are lines in our walls where the land is settlings. Our back door is falling apart because of the weather, we also have a hole in the bottom right corner where snakes and mice come into my home. We are paying full price for a government home that is falling apart in our appending and we don't know what to do. We would like to sell it but it will cost us to much money to fix. And we would like to have a little bigger home because we don't think the house will last until the last payment is made. And on top of this my wife has to stay at home and cannot work because we have three children two with special needs and the third with a blood disorder. So my wife lives with stress with our children and now we see our house I guess you can say is starting to break apart now. So what can we do? Because we don't know what to do anymore. They have tried to foreclose on us twice and they say we don't fall into any help from them. Please help us we really don't know what is going to happen with our family if anything else goes wrong. And I really don't think my wife can take anymore problems with the house or the stress that goes with it.
Answer Since it is a government insured home (assume so since they financed it), you should go to the government to help you with the home. By going to the government I mean you should talk with or write to (have someone who does a better job with grammar and spelling write it for you) and tell whoever you talk to or write to about your plight. I can't imagine them not helping you when they are spending all kinds of money on Haiti's problems. Yours certainly seems equal to them. You can also contact the local Salvation Army and I will bet someone there will know who can be contacted to help you in your problems. I do wish you well.
With more than 41 years as a real estate broker, I can solve most any problem presented. If I can`t, I do my research. Problems with mortgages, trust deeds, foreclosures, odd ways of conveying titles. Most any good Realtor can answer questions satisfactorily, but I answer questions that most cannot.
