Question
Mom 89 & son 67 want to move from NY to Ocean cty NJ. She's given him med proxy, poa and beneficiary of one bank acct. Should title be in her name or joint?  She doesn't have a will. thank you!  Dan

Answer
Dan....cash or not, you should still go through escrow!  You have no idea if the title is clear, taxes up to date, easement, etc.

If you still want to go ahead without knowing all this, at least call an escrow office that does mobiles and see if they will give you the titling advice...they should co-operate.  "~ Mike

Hi Dan...this is a legal question, but I will tell you about Calif. rules.
If the son has any bills, or problem accounts, they will be subject to using the home as an asset...whether it's mom's or joint.
Ask the escrow officer at this point in the transaction to explain to you the difference in the various ways to title a mfg. home
Escrow will be doing the titling anyway...it's part of the escrow process.  Good luck on your move...."~ Mike
