Buying or Selling a Home/house transfer

Question
The house I am living in was purchased for my parents by my church. We are needing to get the deed transfered into my parents name. What would be the most cost effective and legal way to go about this.

Answer
Hi Michelle,

Sorry for the delay in responding to your question.

Any good real estate attorney can handle this for you.  In my area, the charge for this could be anywhere from $75 to $125.

You might find a less expensive way to get it done, but when it comes to transferring real property, it’s not worth the risk to cut corners.  Legal descriptions, proper names, and derivations must be correct; or you could end up with a deed with issues.

Hope this helps.  Feel free to write again if you have additional questions.

Regards,
Elizabeth
