Question
A while back we tried buying a cabin in Big Bear CA.  It was when the bugs
were attacking the trees.  We found out at the last miniute that we couldnt
get insurance so we had to stop the process.  They didn't give us back our
money in escrow so it is still sitting there.  I am in CA right now buy all info is
in Ohio.  Is there a way I can find out were and if my money is still there?

Answer
Just contact the escrow office, Rhonda, or the Realtor that helped you buy the cabin. You should be able to find out from those two sources. If you were refused insurance on the property, the lender therefore (if you had one) would have refused to lend on the property and therefore you were eligible to get a refund (assuming that clause was part of your purchase agreement). I do wish you well.

Expertise

With more than 41 years as a real estate broker, I can solve most any problem presented. If I can`t, I do my research. Problems with mortgages, trust deeds, foreclosures, odd ways of conveying titles. Most any good Realtor can answer questions satisfactorily, but I answer questions that most cannot. Also, ask about my hard-copy newsletter, The Landed Gentry. It can also be sent to you via PDF.
