Buying or Selling a Home/Listing Contract

Question
We recently signed a "listing contract" with a realtor. The selling price was not listed in the contract because it would be determined later after upgrading the house and the property has not yet been listed in MLS. Is this contract in force even though there is no listing price and has not been listed or marketed in any way at this time?

Answer
You have no lising, G Deluxe. Further, to protect yourself I suggest you contact the broker (the manager and/or owner) of the real estate office that you do not have a valid listing contract and tell him/her why. Chances are very they will agree with you and they will then chew out the agent who took such a listing.

You see, every listing taken by a real estate office's agents BELONG to the broker. Therefore, the broker is the owner of that listing. The broker is the only one that can actually cancel it. Not the agent, unless the agent happens to be the broker who took the listing. I wish you well.
