Buying or Selling a Home/Down Payment Assistance Programs

Question
I know someone who is in the process of buying a home.  They are getting a FHA loan.  They need down payment assistance.  Do you know of any agencies or private organizations that can assist?

Answer
You should look for a family member to give the needed assistance.  There are no outside groups - to my knowledge - that can be acceptable or are allowed.  Check with FHA to get further input.  Sorry, but because of the minimum (3 1/2 percent) down payment required, the FHA wants the borrower to be invested in the property.
