Buying or Selling a Home/closets

Question
building a home soon in Montana. My husband doesn't want closets in any bedrooms other than the master. I think it lowers the resale value. He wants to use armoires.
Can you help?

Answer
Dear Robin;
While your husband may like the look of Armoires they do nothing for the value of the home.  A room without closets is usually not even  considered a bedroom.  For resale, unless the Armoires are included in the sale of a home the bedroom will not be very utilitarian.  The average buyer is used to having closets and these days the preference is a walk-in closet that provides lots of storage space.  An armoir provides a minimum storage or wardrobe space and is fine as an accesory but not as a primary closet.  Since you are thinking about resale value please explain to your husband that sometimes one must sacrifice personal preference for a more popular one.

Experience

Anyone who is in this business and who dedicates oneself to professionalism has continued to take classes and along with it,additional credentials, awards and honors. I can list a host of them, but my greatest accomplishments happen to be those of getting first time buyers (who didn't think they could afford to buy a home)into a home of their dreams. The look on their faces when I hand over the keys is worth all of the hard work.
